Van Choga Remix Brings 6 Hip-hop Emcees Together
In 2020, Van Choga, a Zimbabwean Dancehall artists shot to fame and became the poster child for "energy" and craziness. His brand presentation was to dress like a hobo and make chants and energetic dances, to a point where people made mock up graphics of an energy drink with his face on it.
Hip-hop being a power-house for figurative language and concept would pick up on this and soon VI The Law (Six The Law), who is one of the best music producers and a lyricist would hop on to the concept and create the first Van Choga song. The concept is entirely based on ENERGY!

After the first song he then decided to start working on the remix in which he engaged the prowess of Chief Chino, Kuda K, Soko Matemai (Sharky), Myneim and Reap3r. Each of them would spazz on 8 bars on a drill beat produced by VI The Law.
Verses to the Van Choga remix were recorded in 2020, but the project was recently remembered and put together with a few adjustments to original beat in August of 2021. The song was premiered exclusively on King Kandoro's , Madhorofiya Fm on the 9th and September and then given to the public on the 10th of September 2021.
VI The Law managed to group pairs that normally work together in each segment of the posse cut. For instance the first pair is Chief Chino and Kuda K, who are close friends and are both UK based. They also have several records together prior to this.
The second pair is Soko Matemai (Sharky) and Myneim (Mcpotar). Again this pair has been on several projects together as friends since as far back as 2014.
Finally VI The Law himself was paired with Reap3r, and these two, if you follow up quite well have been collaborating like forever.
All verses I must say tapped into different bags and gave the Hip-hop community a chance to compare and contrast the skillsets and deliveries of the artists. There was widespread support from KIRF's Seletine dropping a video review on the matter to people temporarily changing their display pictures to the artwork.
Needless to say there are still big debates on who kicked it the most or which bars were slick but the dominant verdict is that it was well executed and was needed to stimulate competitive unity in the culture.
